Returning to my studio practice after a 20 year pause, I felt lacking in artistic relationships so essential for the evolution and insight via discourse for my art.

I therefore undertook to build relationships in my (painting) life with specific artists that I have an artistic connection with. These are artists that inspire me, and that I learn from.

 

In creating these vivid and expressive paintings, I enter into a dialog with them, and am touched by our interaction on my canvas as I research them and create these paintings.

 

The "Artist & Me" series is inspired by the "buddy-photographs" of Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat, who were both friends and family to each other.

 

Through my picture making process I establish similar relationships with these artists as they invite me into their community, and them to mine.
